Report on Global Immersion Industrial Visit to Dubai for PGDM Students

This report provides an overview of the Global Immersion program in Dubai, specifically designed for Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) students of JS Kothari Business School. The program aimed to enhance the students’ knowledge and understanding of business practices, cultural diversity, and educational opportunities in Dubai.

Objectives of Global Immersion Industrial Visit to Dubai:

  • To expose students to management processes and systems in a global context.
  • Exposure to Cutting edge technology and processes.

Visit to Dubai for 4 days:

The Global Immersion program commenced with the arrival of the PGDM students in Dubai on 29th May 2023. The program spanned four days, offering a comprehensive experience that combined travel, educational and cultural/recreational activities.

City Tour and Dhow Cruise:

On the first day, 29th May, the students embarked on a city tour to explore the vibrant city of Dubai. The tour included visits to iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina. Later in the evening, the students enjoyed a Dhow Cruise along the Dubai Creek, providing them with a unique perspective of the city’s skyline and an opportunity to network with their peers.

Industrial visit to Usky:

On the second day, 30th May, the students visited Usky, a prominent industrial company known for its technological advancements in offering futuristic mobility solutions for passenger and cargo transportation. This industrial visit aimed to expose the students to real-world business operations and showcase Usky’s various products and their upcoming project in Dubai. Students had the opportunity to interact with industry professionals, ask questions, and gain insights into Usky’s business strategies. After the visit, while moving on to the next industry visit, the 13 students (1st Group) presented about Usky on the bus public address system.

Industrial visit to Ace Cranes:

Following the visit to Usky, on the same day, 30th May, the students proceeded to Ace Cranes for another industrial visit. This visit allowed students to witness the manufacturing processes, quality control measures, safety measures and technological advancements in the crane industry. The students had the chance to engage in discussions with experts in the field, gaining valuable industry-specific knowledge. These included interaction with Mr. Prasanna Udupi, Managing Director; Mr. Joe, Facility Manager and Mr. Kunjumon, Safety Manager. Students experienced the hospitality and professionalism of the company representatives. While travelling to the hotel, 13 students (2nd Group) presented about the Ace Cranes.

Visit to Dubai University:

On the third day, 31st May, the students visited Dubai University to explore the educational landscape and potential academic collaborations. The visit included interactive sessions with faculty members and students, providing insights into Dubai’s higher education system. The students had the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn about the educational opportunities available to them. The next day, a group of students made presentations about their experience in Dubai University.

Desert Safari:

Later, the same day, 31st May, the students enjoyed the Desert Safari, immersing themselves in the cultural heritage of Dubai. They experienced traditional activities such as dune bashing, camel riding, henna painting, and attended captivating cultural performances. This excursion allowed the students to appreciate the local customs, traditions, and natural beauty of the desert.

Free day for Students:

On the final day, 1st June, the students were given a free day to explore Dubai independently. They had the freedom to visit other attractions, engage in shopping, or relax and reflect on their learnings from the program. This day provided an opportunity for personal exploration and reflection culminating in reporting back at the hotel and boarding the bus for the airport.

Conclusion:

The Global Immersion program in Dubai for PGDM students was a valuable learning experience that combined academic, cultural, and industrial visits. The program provided the students with practical insights into the business landscape of Dubai, exposure to diverse cultural experiences, and opportunities for academic collaboration. It successfully contributed to the students’ personal and professional growth, broadening their perspectives, and enhancing their understanding of global business practices.
